Elena Bellantoni

Elena Bellantoni (Vibo Valentia, 1975) Works between Rome and Berlin. She graduated in Contemporary Art, she also studies in Paris and London, where she obtains an MA in Visual Art at the WCA University of Arts London. She deepens the theater-dance and the performing arts: her research focuses on the concepts of identity and otherness through language and the use of the body as a tool of interaction. Among her latest solo shows: 2016, Hale Yella addio / adios, Viamoroni SpazioArte, Bergamo; 2015, Lucciole, Alviani Space, Pescara; 2014 Passo a Due, Careof DOCVA, Milan; So we are .., Filiberto Menna Foundation, Archaeological Museum of Salerno. Among the group shows: 2016, Beyond Borders. Transnational Italy, British School at Rome; The Picutre Club, American Academy in Rome; Al-Tiba9 Algiers, Bardo National Museum, Algeria; 2015, Masterpieces from the Farnesina Collection; A look at Italian art from the 1950s to today, Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Croatia. Among the residences: 2016, Soma Residency, Mexico City, Mexico; 2014, Careof Residency Program DOCVA, Milan. Among the prizes: 2009, Movin’up G.A.I., Turin with a project in Santiago de Chile; 2012, NGBK call, In Other Words project, realized at the Kunstraum Kreuzberg Bethanien in Berlin. Public collections: in 2014 you entered the Farnesina Collection, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rome. You are currently a professor of Phenomenology of the Body at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In 2018 with her On the Breadline she is one of the winning artists of the fourth edition of the Italian Council. Her project I drowned the Sea was selected in the Collateral Events section at Manifesta 12. In 2014 she entered the collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, La Farnesina, with the video and photographic series The Fox and the Wolf: Struggle for Power.
