Giorgio Tentolini

Giorgio Tentolini was born in Casalmaggiore (Cr) in 1978. From the studied superimposition of clippings on layers of wire mesh, the chiaroscuro gradations of the snapshots emerge, with the consistency of impalpable visions, which the artist's photographic shot has subtracted from the media noise of contemporaneity. : anatomies, faces of jeunes-filles and mannequins, subjects of classical statuary and the architectural structure of empty apartments.
Since the early 2000s, his analytical approach to vision has led him to divide the image into levels of brightness, marked by acetate, plexiglass, paper, pvc nets and tulle. The works in wire mesh (2016-2021) represent the apex of this expressive research. The intertwining, displacement and superimposition of the hexagonal modules that make up the mesh of the nets is transformed into the perceptual texture through which the eye captures the distinctive features of the subject, structured by the layering of the areas of light and shadow. Winner of the Nocivelli Prize, the Rigamonti Prize within the San Fedele Visual Arts Prize in Milan, the Paratissima Turin Prize, the artist has exhibited in London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Monaco, Greece and the United States. In 2014 one of his works entered the permanent collection of the MAR of Ravenna. In 2018, as a finalist of the Cairo Prize, curated by the magazine Arte, he exhibited at the Palazzo Reale in Milan.
