Giuseppe Veneziano
Giuseppe Veneziano was born in Mazzarino (CL) on February 22, 1971. He graduated in architecture in 1996 at the University of Palermo. During his university years he collaborated for various newspapers (Giornale di Sicilia, La Sicilia, Stilos). In parallel with his work as an architect, he creates comics for some publishing houses (Paruzzo Editore, Il Capitello Editore). From 2000 to 2002 he was Didactic Director and Professor of Art History at the "Giorgio de Chirico" Academy of Fine Arts in Riesi. In 2002 he moved permanently to Milan, where he currently lives, to devote himself to the activity of painter and teacher. In 2006 he held his first major exhibition in the “Luciano Inga Pin” Gallery in Milan. In 2007 he participated in the VI Biennial of Saint Petersburg; in 2008 he was among the twenty artists invited to represent Italy at the "Artâthlos" exhibition on the occasion of the XXXIX Olympic Games in Beijing; in 2009 he took part in the IV Prague Biennial; In 2011 he was invited to the Italian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale. In 2012 he was invited to the Italy-China Biennial of Contemporary Art, Villa Reale in Monza. In 2015 he took part in the “Tesori d'Italia” exhibition, EXPO 2015, Milan. Since 2016 he has been teaching at the “Aldo Galli” Academy of Fine Arts in Como.
He is recognized by critics and trade magazines as one of the leading exponents of the "Italian New Pop" and of the "Italian Newbrow" group.
