Vincenzo Scolamiero

Graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1986. He is a professor of Painting at the Visual Arts Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, the city where he lives and works.

He began his artistic activity with the personal exhibition presented by Antonio Alessandro Mercadante at the Ferro di Cavallo Gallery in Rome in 1987, he was selected in the same year for the most important review of those years aimed at emerging artists of the Municipality of Rome, Department of Culture : Young Artists in Rome III where he has a personal room in the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. In 1990 the meeting with Maurizio Calvesi who will present a personal exhibition in the Galleria de'Serpenti in Rome in 1991. In 1995 he began his collaboration with the Galleria Edieuropa QUI contemporary art in Rome and in 1999 the double solo show Laura Barbarini and Vincenzo Scolamiero always at the Edieuropa Gallery HERE contemporary art. In 1996 the solo exhibition at the AA.M-Architettura Arte Moderna gallery curated by Fabio Briguglio and Francesco Moschini. Since then, he has participated in numerous personal exhibitions and exhibitions of a national and international nature: from the Roman Quadrennial, to the Venice Biennale, from the Biennale of Sacred Art curated by Maurizio Calvesi, to the review The return of the cadavre exquis del Drawing Center of New York, at the exhibition Italy, Japan-twenty artists in comparison at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, curated by Augusta Monferini.

He is repeatedly invited to the Michetti Prize where he wins first prize in the summer of 2014, and still exhibits at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome, at the Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso and at Palazzo Sarcinelli in Conegliano Veneto. In the spring of 2014, his work was exhibited at Palazzo Fava in Bologna in the exhibition curated by Marco Goldin Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, in the exhibition Around Vermeer. The faces, the light, the things. Collaboration, this, with Marco Goldin, who invites him in his reviews since 1996, in the itinerant exhibition Paintings, Sentiment and Form - Italian artists of the fifties and sixties at the Casa dei Carraresi in Treviso, and in the Painting of Italy landscapes exhibition true and soul, in 2009 at Castel Sismondo in Rimini, in the same year participation in the XLVII Vasto Award of Contemporary Art - The Hybrid Icon, curated by Gabriele Simongini, Vasto, Chieti.
In addition, his personal exhibitions have been hosted in important public spaces: the exhibition The feather and the stone in the National Gallery of Contemporary Art of the Republic of San Marino - Logge dei Balestrieri, the exhibition Invitation to the palace art and history in the banks, in the halls of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, Headquarters in Rome, the exhibition With nothing and dew at the Municipal Art Gallery of AC in Ciampino, and The natural incongruous in the Municipal Art Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gaeta, in the Carlo Bilotti Museum of Rome.
In 2014, 2015 and 2017 it was presented at the Busan Art Fair in Busan in Korea introduced by the Kips Gallery in New York. In 2014 he was present in Korea in Seoul in the Ariadne’s thread exhibition - with Luca Coser, Enrico Luzzi, Vincenzo Scolamiero, curated by Ken Kim and Nicola Davide Angerame for the and.n Gallery in Seoul.
In May 2015 he was invited to New York for an artist residency by the Kips Gallery, bcs Gallery and ARNPY, Long Island, New York, which ended with the exhibition There are reasons curated by Nicola Davide Angerame.
Other important personal exhibitions are: 2008 In a turn of the wind at the Galleria Delloro in Rome, in 2014 Without permission in a field, at the Galleria Porta Latina in Rome with texts in the catalog by Lorenzo Canova and Antonio Mercadante and in 2016 the personal L incongruous nature at the Municipal Art Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gaeta with texts in the catalog by Giorgio Agnisola, Marcello Carlino and Claudio Crescentini.
In 2017 he began a collaboration relationship with the composer Silvia Colasanti for which he elaborates video sets and images for the title page and the booklet of the Requiem "They will tighten a comet in their fists" commissioned to the composer by the 60 "Festival of the Two Worlds in Spoleto to commemorate the victims of earthquakes in central Italy. The video scenographies were projected during the performance of the final concert of the Transart Festival in Bolzano in September 2017. In 2018, the realization of seven books-operas made in four hands with the composer Silvia Colasanti on her String Quartet: Every thing ends he said goodbye to everything, for Piero Varroni's Edizioni Eos-Libri d'Artista in Rome. In the same year he was invited to exhibit at the Art Museum in Phoenix - China in the Italian Contemporary Art of Cross-Cultural Vision exhibition, curated by Zhang Yidan and Wang Shengwen. In 2019 he held the important solo exhibition Della declinante shadow at the Carlo Bilotti Museum in Rome, which saw the presence of almost 12,000 visitors, the exhibition was curated by Gabriele Simongini, with the De Luca Editore d’Arte catalog.
In July of the same year the Turbulence exhibition with the Mizuma Kips & Wada Art Gallery in New York and again in 2019 the double solo exhibition Distico - Piero Sadun Vincenzo Scolamiero curated by Marco di Capua for the Galleria Edieuropa QUI contemporary art in Rome.
