CORTOLIVE. The Short Film Factory

On the weekend of 26, 27 and 28 November 2021 in the historic Palazzo Ruspoli in Cerveteri in the province of Rome, the second edition of CortoLive - The Short Film Factory will take place, at the same time a contest for emerging directors, an artistic and laboratory residency and a event dedicated to cinema. Three days of screenings, lectures, pitch presentations and concerts. The protagonists will be the selected young directors and directors, all under 35 and residing in Lazio. The competition announcement in which they participated is giving away two prizes in two different categories, short films and cinematographic creation, for a total value of 4,000 euros. The winners of the last edition were Gaia Siria Meloni and Giulia Di Battista and Davide Petrosino (ex aequo).

The project offers the selected directors a weekend of residence full of stimuli and opportunities for meeting and growth, thanks to the lessons held by some great professionals in the sector, who will also take part in the jury that will select the two winners. The first teachers announced were the winning sound designer of two David di Donatello and four Nastri d'Argento Maricetta Lombardo, the former CEO of Cinecittà and now President of Rome Lazio Film Commission Luciano Sovena, the producer Simona Banchi and the composer Riccardo Bertini.

Unlike the first edition, which took place behind closed doors in the suggestive Palazzo Dora Pamphilij in San Martino al Cimino, during the weekend at Palazzo Ruspoli there will be screenings and special events open to the public. A way to celebrate and share the art of cinema, in particular that of the short film, which has its own specific language and formal dignity. The goal is also to rethink the cultural heritage of Lazio through cinematographic creation: among the selection criteria of the shorts and projects there is, in fact, the relationship with the Lazio region. Special events include out-of-competition screenings of the short films that will participate in the Lazio final of MArteLive, the multi-artistic festival that will host its MArteLive Biennial in October 2022.

CortoLive is part of the regional interventions program for the development of Cinema and Audiovisual for the year 2021 of the Lazio Region promoted by the Visual Arts, Cinema and Audiovisual area of the Culture, Youth Policies and Creative Lazio Directorate and organized by the Procult Association in the context of of Biennale MArteLive Plus, in collaboration with the Roma Lazio Film Commission, Nuovo Cinema Aquila, Cinema Palma, Municipality of Cerveteri, Municipality of Roviano.
