Architetture a Regola d’Arte

Opens at the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts on 7 December 2022 State-of-the-Art Architecture, curated by Luca Galofaro with Pippo Ciorra, Laura Felci, Elena Tinacci.

The exhibition project presents the visitor with over 400 works including models, documents and drawings, projects, installations, photographs, correspondence by some of the great protagonists of 20th century architecture - BBPR, Costantino Dardi, Vincenzo Monaco and Amedeo Luccichenti, Luigi Moretti - whose professional archives are kept in the MAXXI Architecture Collection.
Different authors, united by the profound relationship that architecture and art have in their work.
In fact, some historical installations and the works of some of the most significant artists with whom the architects have collaborated are on display, including Saul Steinberg, Costantino Nivola, Daniel Buren, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Pietro Consagra, Antonio Corpora, Nino Franchina, Giulio Paolini , Gino Severini, Giuseppe Uncini, in a continuous dialogue and in a continuous contamination between art and architecture, which underlines a cultured and interdisciplinary approach in which the personal dimension often intersects with the professional one.

The visitor can thus discover the architectures that welcome and integrate with important works of art by Studio Monaco-Luccichenti; the spectacular exhibitions set up by Costantino Dardi in dialogue with critics, artists and even directors; the love for art of Luigi Moretti, connoisseur, enthusiast and expert, refined collector and gallery owner. Also exhibited for the first time are materials from the BBPR Archive, which has just been acquired on loan. What emerges is an exciting picture of the partnership between architects and artists that characterized a crucial phase in the country's cultural history.
