Alberto Giacometti and Lucio Fontana together for the first time. An unprecedented museum project presents the ideal meeting and the powerful dialogue between two giants of the twentieth century, thanks to the extraordinary comparison between masterpieces arriving from Italy and abroad.
Florence hosts a double appointment conceived by Sergio Risaliti, director of the Museo Novecento, which sinks into the inexhaustible and obstinate research of the two masters, protagonists of a parallel journey that intends to suggest new avenues of analysis and explore new interpretations.
The Giacometti - Fountain exhibition. The search for the absolute is curated by Chiara Gatti and Sergio Risaliti and can be viewed from 2 March to 4 June 2023, within the monumental spaces of the Palazzo Vecchio Museum in Florence.
For the first time these two cornerstones of the 20th century will be brought into relationship, so distant in attitudes and in life, but equally linked by a reflection on the truth in art, conquered through the experience of matter and at the same time of the imagination, in hovering between the primordial dimension of time and the cosmological dimension of space. An interview that aims to raise questions rather than give answers, to stimulate critical debate and unexpected narratives around affinities of thought and shared references. An exhibition in which the juxtaposed works acquire the evocative power of a dream, whose presence as in a dream must be interpreted by looking for answers distant in time and in the future.
The exhibition makes use of the support and loan of a substantial group of works from the Lucio Fontana Foundation.
