Time Within the Signs is the first group show at THEPÒSITO Art, the exhibition brings together the works of three artists - Erica Ferraroni, Laura Santamaria and Meri Tancredi - in a dialogue that explores Time and Cosmos reinterpreting the oracular figure. The project focuses on the concept whereby the artist's role in the society is as similar as the one of a contemporary oracle, capable of transforming the perception of the world into a language that escapes linearity and certainty, placing us before a deep reflection on the relationship between time, reality and imagination.
The artist becomes an interpreter of time that passes, not a narrator who offers answers, but an observer who translates flows, fragments and sensations into signs that require decipherment. Their work, like ancient prophecies, are ambiguous, fragmentary, sometimes even inconsistent, but precisely in this enigmatic nature lies their energy. It is the observer's task to grasp the clues, to interpret what is shown, aware that all understanding is temporary and never definitive. The work does not merely tell a story already defined, but acts as an open track, a fertile ground to reflect on the present and intuit possibilities for the future, aware that tomorrow will never be realized according to our expectations.
Erica Ferraroni, in her 'ORACOLI' series, transforms the circle into a powerful symbol of energy and transformation. Her images evoke constellations that seem to speak of aura, cyclicity and rebirth, capturing an intimate connection between the human figure and universal geometries. Laura Santamaria, in the series 'Blacksmoke', uses nerofumo (carbon black) as a material trace to represent the orbits and astral cycles, joining the primordial matter of the universe to the processes that shape our lives. Meri Tancredi explores the flow of time through the video 'Tempo stabile di massima permanenza', in which a beam of sunlight becomes the silent protagonist of a reflection on duration and permanence, and in the 'Tavolette di Armonia' series, plexiglass panels in which the overlapping of inscriptions over time makes the text almost illegible, she recalls the complexity of ancient oracle prophecies.
The perception that these artists have of the world and the way they invite us to read it are a manifestation of Time flowing without assumptions, without a clear beginning or end. In this regard, their research does not offer answers, but opens spaces of question and imagination instead, making us aware of our deeply human desire to find certainties in reality, trying to shape a future that we cannot know. The title of the exhibition 'Time Within the Signs' suggests this tension between the need to interpret the present and the desire to glimpse in time signs that can guide us. Like an oracle reading the sky, the artist does not reveal absolute truths but invites us to decipher the signs that surround us, reminding that time is not a straight line but a constellation of fragments, intuitions and possibilities. In this sense, time lives within the signs left by the artist, signs that are not answers, but starting points for a personal and collective journey through the mystery of 'being'.
Erica Ferraroni (Sassuolo, 1984) lives and works between Austria and Italy; specialized in minimalist Still Life photography, her career initially runs between Florence and Milan, where she has worked in art and photography studies before developing a personal creative voice living and working for over seven years in Los Angeles, US. Her work revolves around finding unexpected beauty in everyday things and transforming them into minimal poetry. She possesses a natural dislike for the unnecessary. Also for wasting energy on the obvious. She follows her sensibility for beauty and is working purely with natural light to make space for the unpredictable to happen.
Laura Santamaria (Monza, 1976) lives and works between Como and Milan. Graduated from Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and later specialized from the Loughborough University School of Art and Design. Her site-specific projects and sculptures often present the viewer a parallelism between the micro and macro cosmos, thus reflecting on systems and processes of interconnectivity. Her multidisciplinary practice has been exhibited in museums and international institutions such as the Whitechapel Gallery in London (2015) and the MAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, A Coruña (2019). Founder and curator of 'Drawings from Lightning', a multidisciplinary project focused on contemporary drawing... read the rest of the article»
Meri Tancredi (L'Aquila, 1976) lives and works in Perugia. In her peregrinations she explores the relationship between language, space, matter and perception. The artist research focuses on the relationship between language, space, matter and perception. Questioning her own unconscious universe to relate it with a collective Time and coagulating her own reflections into semantic traces, sometimes precise and rigorous, other times labile and twisted anthropological and anthropic metaphors.
