The CAMeC, as we know it today, was born on 23 May 2004 to deliver to the city and host in an appropriate location the considerable artistic funds coming from the editions of the Premio del Golfo and from the Cozzani and Battolini donations.
The rotating exhibition of the permanent collections is flanked by the creation of exhibitions that document the different areas of current production or the historical contemporary. We remember the great exhibitions dedicated to Jean Tinguely and Bruno Munari, Fausto Melotti, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte, Concepts Pozzati, Enrico Baj, Giulio Turcato; the reconnaissance dedicated to the young Italian and international production (Swiss, German, Chinese); the study of currents and events of the twentieth century in collaboration with other museums; the monographic digressions of great importance. Many authors for whom an original exhibition project was conceived: among others Marco Gastini, Renato Ranaldi, Din Matamoro, Bizhan Bassiri, Jan Dibbets, Romano Rizzato, Diet Sayler, Enrico Paulucci, Paolo Icaro, Giovanni Campus, Edith Schloss, Luca Matti, Omar Galliani, Eliseo Mattiacci, Jonathan Guaitamacchi, Giovanni Frangi, Walter Valentini; La Spezia's Mauro Manfredi, Francesco Vaccarone, Giuliano Tomaino, Marco Casentini, Gianluca Lerici - prof. Bad Trip, Angelo Prini, Elisa Corsini, Mirko Baricchi.
