Paolo Marcolongo

Paolo Marcolongo, born in Padua in 1956, studied at the Pietro Selvatico Art Institute and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. From 1984 to 1996 he was a professor at the P. Selvatico Institute of Art, and since 1996 he has been a professor of Plastic Disciplines at the "Amedeo Modigliani" State Art School in Padua. From 1996 to 1998 he was curator and director of the Gallery of contemporary jewels PD 362; from 1998 to 2005 he was curator and director of the “Galleria Marcolongo” specialized in Applied Art. From 1999 to 2002 he organized various Summer Workshops on contemporary jewelery for the cultural association "La Corte" of Sambruson-Dolo, inviting internationally renowned artists, including Peter Skubic, Otto Kunzli and Giampaolo Babetto. In 2005 he curated the Erico Nagai exhibition in the museum space of the Oratorio di San Rocco. In 2005 he organized and curated the exhibition "PRO-GETTARE Architettura" at the National Museum of Villa Pisani in STRA (Venice). In 2006 he curated Ernst Gamperl's exhibition "A tour more of the circle" in the museum space of the Oratory of San Rocco - Padua. In 2008/2009 he was an expert on the subject in design 3 at the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering of Padua. In 2012 he held a workshop at the Center for Art and Visual Communication (ar.co) in Lisbon entitled "The housing space". In 2015 he organized the exhibition "170 Racconti in a Bottle", an installation that retraces the places described in the tales of "Danubio" by Claudio Magris, shown for the first time in Padua (Altinate S. Gaetano Cultural Center) and then in two further exhibitions in Barcelona (Galleria Lo Spazio) and Rome (Pastificio Cerere Foundation) promoted by the Nando And Elsa Peretti Foundation. In 2015 he was awarded the Bayerischer Staatspreis 2015- Munchen.
