In June, Galleria360 offers a double and unmissable appointment with contemporary art with the solo exhibition of the artist David Whitfield, entitled "beyond appearance" and the group exhibition "Colors of the soul".
Therefore, Galleria360 awaits you at the inauguration which will take place on Friday 9th June 2023 at 7.30 pm in via Borgo Ognissanti 77r, Florence. During the vernissage a welcome drink will be offered while Jazz musicians will play live.
David Whitfield was born near Newcastle in north-east England. Established artist on the international scene, David Whitfield has exhibited in various countries such as Scotland, Austria, France, Italy, United States, as well as in England. Pungent, at times irreverent, but above all free from any suggestion, prejudice or model: this is David Whitfield’s painting who in the new personal exhibition "beyond appearance" exposes his latest and unpublished artworks at the Galleria360. Using an extremely nonchalant pictorial conduct, characterized by a bright sonority of colors and supported by a prolific compositional imagination, the painter gives life to lively compositions that delve into the depths of the human psyche. In fact, in Whitfield's paintings a tangle of feelings and emotions intertwine with the overlapping of deformed and weightless figures which, almost like ghostly visions, move in unstable and indefinite spaces, playing with chromatic transparencies. An existentialism that, from a formal point of view, translates into a deforming aesthetic pathology, which leads to a deflagration of the figurative plot, whose fragments are held together by a strong sense of colour. The frail figures of the Newcastle artist, although corroded by the friction of the world, lay bare social masks, lean on the edge of frightening inner chasms and lift the veil of hypocrisy, revealing the tumult of human existence throughout the its infinite variety.
At the same time as David Whitfield's artistic review, "Colors of the soul" will be presented; it’s a collective exhibition where chromatic combinations are constantly intertwined with the affective life and daily experience of the international artists Tobi Wilkinson and Andrés López Blasco. It’s an exhibition where color becomes a real emotional as well as an expressive language that accompanies us, from artwork to artwork, on a fascinating exploratory journey inside the soul, or in that jungle of emotions that distinguishes human existence.
Therefore, with the exhibitions "beyond appearance" and "Colors of the soul", Galleria360, in a unique synergy between contemporary art and history, once again demonstrates that it offers new opportunities for reflection, for stimulating discussion and for bringing art and aesthetic meditation in their place of origin, in the beating heart of artistic expression: that is Florence.
