Festival delle Arti 2021 - Todi

After the success of the first edition, held last year in Todi, L'Aquila and Venice as a tribute to the American artist Beverly Pepper, installations, exhibitions, art talks and edutainment will be the ingredients of the second appointment with the Festival of Arts, curated by by Francesca Valente, in Todi from 24 July 2021.

Promoted by the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Todi, the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation of Milan and the Todi Festival, the 2021 edition of the Festival delle Arti lays its solid foundations on the historic friendship between Beverly Pepper and one of the greatest Italian contemporary sculptors, Arnaldo Pomodoro, to whom the event will pay a wide and widespread tribute this year. A happy combination of art and places that has found an exceptional stage in green Umbria since the works of the two artists are already present in various locations: from Todi to Spoleto, passing through Terni, Gubbio, Bevagna, Assisi, Brufa and Torgiano.

The program

The rich program of the Festival of Arts 2021, aimed at bringing and enhancing the works of Arnaldo Pomodoro and Beverly Pepper in Umbria, includes appointments scheduled until Sunday 26 September, partly included in the subsequent programming of the Todi Festival. The curtain rises on Saturday 24 July with the spotlight on the temporary installation of the four Stele (1997-2000), in the suggestive Piazza del Popolo in Todi, and of the Scettri (1987-1988) in the nearby Oberdan Gardens. In this case, these are five aluminum sculptures granted on a free, long-term loan from the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation to the City of Todi.

The activities will resume on Saturday 28 August, coinciding with the first day of Todi Festival, when the temporary exhibition “Labyr-Into. Inside the labyrinth of Arnaldo Pomodoro ", scheduled until 26 September, which will allow visitors to enter, in a virtual way, the environmental work of Arnaldo Pomodoro" Entrance to the labyrinth ". The vernissage will be preceded by an Art Talk by the curator Francesca Valente in conversation with Bruno Corà, Burri Foundation (Città di Castello), Marco Tonelli, Palazzo Collicola (Spoleto) and Federico Giani, Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation (Milan).

Furthermore, between July 24 and September 26, in the Sala dei Portici, adjacent to Piazza del Popolo, an Edutainment Area will be set up that will tell, through a path of photographs and films, the relationship between Arnaldo Pomodoro, Beverly Pepper and the 'Umbria. The Sala dei Portici will also host educational workshops designed for a wide audience, from infancy to the third age, thanks to which they can have direct experience of original creative processes: guided tours that, through the experimentation of different techniques, will accompany the participants in the conception of a "project for Umbria", just as done by the two sculptors.... read the rest of the article»
