Accademia di Francia a Roma - Villa Medici

Founded in 1666 by Louis XIV, the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici is a French cultural institution headquartered since 1803 at Villa Medici, a 16th-century villa surrounded by a seven-hectare park located on the Pincian Hill in the heart of Rome.

As a public entity under the French Ministry of Culture, the French Academy in Rome – Villa Medici has three complementary missions: hosting high-level artists, creators, art historians, and researchers for annual residencies or shorter stays; implementing a cultural and artistic program that spans all fields of art and creation, reaching out to a broad audience; preserving, restoring, studying, and making known to the public its architectural and landscape heritage as well as its collections.
