Colors of the soul

“What's your color? I wanna know what's your color? I could be red or I could be yellow, I could be blue…” (Stella Jung, “Colors”)
This is the rhythmic refrain of the single by the well-known South Korean singer-songwriter Stella Jung. In the song, as in the cheerful and viral on the web video, the colours become a metaphor for our psychological experience; as the singer points out, in fact, the chromatic shades are able to express better than any other means the metamorphosis of our inner states, that is the emotions.
Countless scientific and psychological studies have highlighted the close connection between colours and our moods. In fact, synaesthesia, or the ability of a colour to produce multisensory perceptions, does not only concern sound effects, but also thermal and allegorical ones: a red nuance can evoke a sensation of heat, but also of physical energy, spicy flavors, cheerfulness; on the contrary, blue instills calm, slows the heartbeat, counteracts states of anxiety, induces introspection and recalls a sense of freshness. Therefore the colour scheme plays a vital role in the world in which we live; it can influence thinking, change actions, provoke reactions or sensations. Colour is like an alchemical force which has the ability to alter a space, a state of mind or even a mentality. It is an energy that works on us, or as Wassily Kandinsky argued, it is a means of exerting a direct influence on the soul.
With the artistic exhibition "Colors of the Soul" , Galleria360 guides us through the emotional itineraries of the inner world of each artist, through the suggestions of colour. An exploratory journey into that jungle of emotions that distinguishes human existence, where the stages or stations of passage are represented in the artworks with different "emotional tones". If the colour of a rose reveals the intentions and feelings of the person who gave it to us, likewise the various chromatic tones record and impress on the artwork surface the whirlwind of emotions of each artist.
"Colors of the Soul" is an exhibition that investigates colour in its primordial essence, thanks to which the spirit and vital soul of our world is revealed to us. Johannes Itten, Swiss painter and Fine Arts teacher, in his book "The art of color", stated in fact that "a world without colours would be a world without life."
