Davide Quartucci. L'Intima Materia

Davide Quartucci opens his first solo exhibition at the Boccanera Gallery Trento, in the gallery's project room, exploring the symbolic imagery of rest and the existential process of death through a profoundly playful attitude.
The works tell of an organic and essential existence, an investigation of the earth itself, which in turn becomes an investigation of human intimacy, one made up of simple and slow gestures, amplified by a contrasting narrative, light-hearted yet funerary.

Davide Quartucci was born in Senigallia (Ancona IT) in 2000. He lives and works between Senigallia and Milan.

Quartucci is currently attending the third year of the painting course at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.

Using symbols and collective imagination, Davide Quartucci's research investigates a different vision of the world and the things that make it up, letting the viewer immerse into fairy-tale scenarios populated by bizarre characters.
His subjects, hybrids between infants and old men, dialogue in harmony with nature through ludic-demented attitudes and bearings, inebriating the scenarios in which they are wrapped up with uncanny contrasts. Homo ludens becomes homo "ultra-ludens".

Through a material imagination, the characters who inhabit these visions, so awkward, with phallic, wrinkled and bald noses, live a perennial reverie, maintaining a constant dialogue with human frailty, decomposition and death. With a pictorial and musical gaze, his imagery comes to life through painting, sculpture, video, photography and drawing.
