PostHuman is Human After All

The photography exhibition "PostHuman is Human After All" will be held at 28 Piazza di Pietra Fine Art Gallery in Rome from 16th September to 7th October. The exhibition highlights the best talents discovered among over 500 applications of the Passepartout Photo Prize from all over the world in 2022. Winners of the 5th and 6th editions of the contest and featured works are "Mido" by Julie Joubert and "Liminal" by Ingrid Dorner. The exhibition includes selected works by: Anton Kuehnhackl, Chrissy Lush, Pratya Jankong and Olga Fedorova, Rob MacInnis, Seong Jae Kim, and Serena Biagini.

The collective exhibition is curated by Roberta Fuorvia - "PostHuman is Human After all emphasizes the paradox of what human beings are capable of generating through their own bodies and the typical contradictions of the human mind.
The title echoes the historic exhibition "Post Human" curated by Jeffrey Deitch (American artist, curator, critic, and gallery owner). In this new linguistic variant, where the paradox is already inherent in the concept of posthuman, musical suggestions from Daft Punk are added in the song "Human After All," where the use of the noun "human" is repeated with such insistence and petulance that it loses its true meaning, becoming only a sound and losing its nature as a word.
Is this what we are becoming? Are we just a memory of what we once were? Have we lost the primal meaning of our race and our existence in the world? Over thirty years after Deitch's insight, we still ask ourselves the same questions. Are we close to the end of humanity, or is it the advent of a new era? Would we be able to redesign ourselves and reconnect with the ecosystem in a more constructive way?
The exhibition "Post Human is Human After All" intentionally aims to reopen (or continue) the debate and position itself as a stimulator of reflection: what will be the future of humanity, and how will contemporary photography (and art in general) address these changes?"

ABOUT PASSEPARTOUT PHOTO PRIZE
Passepartout Photo Prize is an open-theme contest that aims to support the development of emerging artists. Not only does this biannual contest provide monetary awards, but winners receive various exposure through on-site exhibitions, publications, features in various magazines, online galleries, and more. The jury consists of photographers, editors, gallerists, curators and educators.
The artistic director Olmo Amato described, "At a time in history when most photographic images created digitally remain in the virtual realm, we felt the need to create a contest that would give visibility to the authors with a real exhibition. A physical gallery where we could observe the photographs not as pixels but as printed images and art objects."
This growing contest aspires to become more than just a contest - to create a hub for fine art photographers to be inspired and gain experiences in the art business. The call for Passepartout Photo Prize 7th edition is open.
