MART - Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto

Museum of modern and contemporary art of Trento and Rovereto is one of the most important European museums.
It is also an interlocutor for major international museums, a listening and dialogue point for the surrounding area and a complex machine that produces continuous stimuli aimed at the public, artists, collectors, businesses and local communities.

The permanent collection of the Mart includes over 15,000 works: paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures, with important nuclei especially as regards the avant-garde of the twentieth century. There are many works by Giorgio Morandi, Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà and the futurist Fortunato Depero from Rovereto. The Mart also houses the Giovanardi Collection, the VAF collection, and works deposited by international collectors Ileana Sonnabend, and Giuseppe Panza di Biumo.

The museum structure is spread over four floors. At the entrance are the reception, the information area, the book shop, the cafeteria, the conference room and the cloakroom. From the ground floor the visitor can access the basement, where the 1900s Archive and the Library are located.

On the first floor are the areas dedicated to temporary exhibition activities, the didactic section, the offices. On the second floor, a glass and steel walkway leads to an area of about 3800 square meters which hosts in rotation a selection of the works from the permanent collection, always with new displays, and the large annual exhibition usually in the period from December to May dedicated to themes. original and innovative.

Outside there is a permanent exhibition of the sculptures preserved in the collections, "Outdoor Sculptures", a selection of works that measure themselves against the surrounding urban space. The visitor - through a staircase - will be able to access the Sculpture Park directly from the Mart square. From there you will be able to follow a path that puts the sculptures in dialogue with some hitherto unfamiliar spaces of Mario Botta's architecture.
