MAV - Museo dell'Artigianato Valdostano

The MAV - Museum of traditional Aosta Valley craftsmanship is a museum that guides visitors to discover traditional craftsmanship, without conceding anything to nostalgic re-enactment.

The museum houses about 800 objects, including artifacts and sculptures, which tell the crafts of the past and the present. The modern and timeless setting aims to enhance the raw material, the technique of craftsmanship, the use and the typological analysis of the object: the artifacts positioned with simplicity, in the absence of showcases, restore the proximity to the exhibited heritage and allow to recognize the distinctive features of an agro-pastoral community marked by the rhythms of nature and the characteristics of the Alpine territory. Each artifact inserted in the thematic areas of the museum bears witness to the daily life of man capable of inspiring the modernity of our present to this day.
A place of meeting, comparison and discovery, as well as a lively laboratory of ideas, the MAV combines the role of guardian of memory with educational activities and the organization of temporary exhibitions.
