The Sacred in art. A selection of works from the Cattelani Collection

From Saturday 20 November 2021 to Friday 7 January 2022 the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum hosts the contemporary art exhibition "The Sacred in Art. A selection of works from the Cattelani Collection ". A selection of works from the Cattelani Collection, including works by artists such as Joseph Beuys, Hermann Nitsch, Yoko Ono, Lucio Fontana, Luigi Ontani, Francis Bacon, Santolo Deluca, Lorenzo Bonechi enter into dialogue with the ancient rooms and works of art of the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum, a house museum that preserves and guards a unique historical and artistic heritage.

Set in the rooms of the ancient noble residence of the Miniscalchi family, it preserves and exhibits art collections of various kinds: paintings, Renaissance bronzes, archaeological collections, majolica and porcelain, weapons and armor of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The exhibition "The Sacred in Art. A selection of works from the Cattelani Collection ", for an unprecedented dialogue that aims to stimulate new reflections on an aspect that concerns the most intimate part of man, that of the sacred.

Carlo Cattelani (1931-1999) was among the first to make the production of artists resident in the United States known in Italy and Europe and who, shortly afterwards, would transform the artistic language of the second half of the twentieth century. The central corpus of the Cattelani Collection is made up of a large core of religious-themed works linked to contemporary language, in which the artists' predisposition to universally interpret shared values ascribable to the common territory of spirituality and art emerges.

The exhibition is promoted by the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum Foundation, Omnia Events and more, Ezechiel Association, in collaboration with Tiberio Cattelani.
